PROTECT YOUR TEETH WITH CROWNS
Dental crowns from James Martin, DMD, protect damaged teeth, restore your smile, and prevent further complications. Whether your tooth has been damaged by decay or an accident like a slip and fall, a crown can cover it up and strengthen your smile.
Dental crowns are tooth-shaped dental caps, that are placed over seriously damaged teeth. They can be used after a root canal, which is another restorative treatment.
At our practice, we primarily use porcelain dental crowns. These crowns are crafted by a third-party dental lab and are designed to look just like your natural tooth, ensuring a beautiful, seamless restoration of your smile.
DENTAL BRIDGES
Dental bridges are similar to dental crowns, but instead of just capping a tooth, they can replace a tooth too. Dental bridges utilize dental crowns on either side of the gap in your smile, with a replacement tooth, called a pontic, replacing the tooth.
Bridges are made out of porcelain or ceramic, just like crowns. We make them custom to your smile, offering comfort and a stable replacement option for your teeth.
Jason’s crowns from a previous dentist kept breaking. His smile restoration included new crowns and veneers to get the smile he’d always wanted.
PERMANENT SMILE RESTORATION WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS
If you are missing one or more teeth and are interested in restoring your smile permanently, dental implants are a great choice. Not only do dental implants look and feel completely natural, but they last 30+ years with proper care and help support the health of your jaw after you’ve lost a tooth.
Dental implants consist of two primary parts. The dental implant itself is a small piece of titanium, which is inserted directly into the gum and jaw where the root of your missing tooth used to be. Once it heals, which takes about 3–6 months, it bonds with the surrounding tissue, allowing it to function as an artificial root.
The second part is the implant-supported restoration. Once your implant has healed, your restoration will be attached to the implant, restoring your smile and your bite. The process of having a dental implant placed usually takes about two appointments over the span of 3–6 months to allow for enough time for your mouth to heal.
All-on-X Technology
All-on-X replaces more than just one tooth! This amazing process uses anywhere between 4–6 implants to replace an entire arch of teeth with a permanent denture. The denture is custom-fitted to your gumline and the implants you have, making this a comfortable and durable solution.
All-on-X restorations are best for those who do not have very many natural healthy teeth left in one of the arches of their smile. Dr. Martin can use All-on-X to plan a smile that will restore your functionality quickly.
Bone Grafts for Supporting Implants
A bone graft can help a patient who has lost jawbone density. A healthy jawbone with proper bone density is essential for placing and maintaining implants. It is also essential to prevent jaw pain and facial sagging.
Bone grafts can be an essential part of restoring your smile. Dr. Martin is highly trained in bone grafts and implants, with over 2000+ hours of after-residency training.
Full and Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are designed to attach to your remaining healthy teeth using a metal and plastic framework, replacing one or more missing teeth with false teeth, and restoring your smile. Partial dentures are ideal if you have lost multiple teeth but are not interested in alternative restorations like dental implants or bridges.
Full dentures are intended to replace your entire upper, lower, or both arches of teeth. They are only recommended if you’ve already lost most or all of your teeth. This is because all of your remaining teeth must be extracted in order to fit a set of full dentures.
Both full and partial dentures are cost-effective and can be built quickly, allowing you to restore your smile quickly. If you are in Lafayette, get started by scheduling an appointment with Dr. James Martin today!
Implant-Supported Dentures and Partials
Your dentures and partials can be supported by implants, improving your jawbone health while offering stability. Your dentures or partials can be permanent and removable. Permanent partials are often dental bridges, looking a bit different than a traditional partial.
Removable Snap-In Dentures
Removable dentures don’t have to use dental adhesives. They can be attached to implants, but are still removable for your comfort. They have all the benefits of dentures and All-on-X. They offer stability while you eat and speak, but can let you relax while you sleep.
Gum Treatments for Better Health and Appearance
We offer periodontal disease treatments for gum disease, including gum grafts when necessary. If your gums have decayed, causing distress to your oral health, you can call Dr. James Martin to learn more about gum grafts or periodontal disease treatment.
Gum Lifts and Crown Lengthening
These two similar treatments both help to improve the cosmetics of your smile by helping your smile look less gummy. They can also work to remove infected gum or help an area damaged by tooth decay and periodontal disease.
Root Canals
Root canals are an essential part of restorative dentistry. They can help you keep your natural tooth while removing the damaged and infected inner part of your tooth. An infected tooth, if left, can cause severe pain and gum inflammation and take a toll on the teeth around it. Getting a root canal quickly is essential to maintaining your oral health.
Full Mouth Reconstruction | A Blend of Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry
We use a combination of reconstructive and cosmetic dentistry to restore a badly damaged smile. When you come to us with a smile that has lost function and its aesthetic appearance, we will create a plan for full mouth reconstruction.
Our plan will take into consideration your budget and lessen your chair time at the dentist while still offering you revitalization of your smile.
We take on cases that other doctors have rejected. No one is beyond help at James Martin, DMD.
SEDATION FOR RECONSTRUCTIVE DENTISTRY
We offer sedation for all of our reconstructive and restorative procedures. Whether you’re having a simpler procedure like a filling or crown or you are undergoing multiple, complex reconstructive surgeries, you can benefit from sedation dentistry. As long as you’re health and Dr. Martin approves, you can receive laughing gas (minimally inhaled) sedation or oral conscious sedation during your reconstructive dentistry appointment.

Non-Invasive Imaging

- CBCT | Cone beam computed tomography is a 3D X-ray technology that allows us to see the current state of your smile. The scans can help us plan dental surgeries and determine your jawbone density.
- Facial Scanner | This iTero facial scanner will help us show you what changes we can make to your smile, and can catch details that the naked eye cannot. It will show you how implant placements will work too.
- Intraoral Scanner | This is the most comfortable X-ray scanner for us to see detailed images of your jawbone and your remaining teeth. Our scanners are minimally invasive yet help us create the perfect implant for you.
- Exocad | This is the computer software that we use to create guided implant plates, create CEREC crowns, and so much more. It uses CAD technology, which is an engineering system.
Guided Implant Surgery | We create a surgical guide using Exocad technology to offer perfect precision for your new implant. This will help Dr. Martin place the implant where it is stable and offers the most cosmetic benefits.
