Did you know that tooth loss, especially severe tooth loss, can lead to the degeneration of your jawbone? It can also lead to issues with facial sagging and gum health. While traditional removable dentures can help with some of these things, they are not an optimal oral health solution.
Implants stimulate the jawbone, similar to tooth roots. This provides necessary support for your jaw and face, helping you avoid sunken areas in your face as well as pain.
What Are Implant-Supported Dentures?
Implant-supported dentures use implants to anchor dentures to your gums. This solution doesn’t use dental adhesives and prevents slipping, all while offering the benefits of implants.
Implant-supported dentures can either be non-removable or snap-on. Let’s explore both options.
Non-Removable
Your dentures will be permanently attached to your implants, acting as a whole new arch of teeth for you. We will match the teeth to your gum color and customize the fit so they are comfortable. This approach prevents slippage and restores total function, and is most similar to a natural arch of teeth.
We use the All-on-X and All-on-4® treatment concept for non-removable dentures to provide the most customizable approach possible.
Snap-On Dentures
Snap-on dentures attach to abutments on top of the implants, and can be removed and attached whenever needed. They are perfect for patients who are transitioning from traditional dentures or who value the comfort of a removable prosthetic. The snap-on dentures are still very secure to avoid slipping.
They combine the oral health benefits of implants with the convenience of traditional dentures.

Comparing the Options
- Candidacy | You must have enough jawbone density to support implant placement to receive implant-supported dentures. If not, traditional dentures may be a better solution, or you could consider a gum graft.
- Comfort | All-on-X is often reported by patients as the most comfortable option, but snap-on dentures may be more comfortable if you are used to removing your dentures at home or before sleeping.
- Durability | Implants are permanent, and the dentures on top of them will need to be replaced around every 15 years, which is less often than traditional dentures, which need to be replaced around every 5 years.
- Aesthetics | We craft all of our dentures to be aesthetically pleasing, so when you pick dentures, it is more about comfort and personal preference than looks.
- Removability | Snap-on dentures and traditional dentures are removable, while All-on-X is permanently attached to the dentures.
The Benefits of Implant-Supported Dentures
Implant-supported dentures are more than just a modern upgrade from traditional dentures—they’re a life-changing solution for patients who want comfort, stability, and improved oral health. Because they are anchored directly to your jaw, implant-supported dentures restore natural function while preventing many of the common issues associated with traditional removable dentures.
Here are some of the benefits of implant-supported dentures:

- Stronger Bite Function | You’ll regain the ability to chew more comfortably and confidently. No more worrying about dentures shifting when you’re eating your favorite foods.
- Jawbone Preservation | Dental implants stimulate the jawbone just like natural teeth, helping to prevent the bone loss that often occurs with missing teeth or traditional dentures.
- Improved Facial Structure | By supporting your jaw and facial muscles, implant-supported dentures help prevent the sunken look that can accompany long-term tooth loss.
- Increased Comfort | Because they don’t rely on adhesives or rest on the gums, implant-supported dentures tend to cause less irritation and feel more natural in the mouth.
- Durability and Longevity | With proper care, your implants can last a lifetime, and the dentures that attach to them typically need less frequent replacement than traditional options.
- Enhanced Confidence | Patients often report feeling more secure and confident with their smile, knowing their dentures won’t slip or click during conversations or meals.
Why Patients Love Snap-On Dentures
For those who want the health benefits of implants but aren’t interested in a permanently fixed denture, snap-on dentures offer the perfect middle ground. These removable prosthetics attach securely to dental implants and can be taken out at home for easy cleaning or comfort.
Here’s why patients appreciate the snap-on dentures we offer:
- Removable Yet Stable | Snap-on dentures stay firmly in place during the day but can be easily removed at night, giving you the best of both worlds.
- Easy Transition from Traditional Dentures | If you’re already used to removable dentures, this option provides a familiar feel with added security and support.
- Lower Cost Entry into Implant Dentistry | Snap-on dentures often require fewer implants than fixed options, making them a more accessible starting point for patients interested in implant-supported care.
- Simplified Maintenance | Cleaning your dentures is easier when they’re removable, especially for patients with dexterity challenges.
Whether you choose All-on-X or a snap-on solution, Dr. Martin will walk you through your options so that your final result supports your health, lifestyle, and long-term goals.
What Is the Process?
This type of treatment is both restorative and cosmetic. It will complete your smile while restoring the function of your mouth. It will protect your oral and overall health by sealing your smile to keep bacteria from growing and leading to infection. This state-of-the-art solution will give you permanent and stunning results.
Consultation
Before jumping into treatment, we will first evaluate your oral and overall health needs and goals through a comprehensive examination. During this session, we will create a customized treatment plan based on the results. Having a fully customized plan will ensure results that will help you feel great.

Treatment
Implant Placement
We use custom placement guides to surgically place your implants in your jaw. They will integrate with your jaw over a period of a few months, during which you will wear a temporary denture. As a team, we will decide how many implants to place and where to place them. Your opinion and comfort matter to us.
Denture Design
Here is where precision matters most! We design your dentures with special attention to detail through our advanced dental technology. James Martin, DMD, will ensure a snug and secure fit that has the aesthetics you want, including size, shape, and shade, so you can have a natural-looking and comfortable smile.
Follow-up and Aftercare
Once treatment is complete, you may need to come in for a follow-up appointment for any necessary adjustments. You will receive instructions from the dentist at the end of your appointment, which are very important to follow.
Snap-in dentures are extremely convenient due to their removable nature, giving you flexibility and ease in maintaining them. It is important to maintain proper dental hygiene and schedule routine dental checkups to help them last a long time.
