The answer is yes.
Here’s why:
COVID-19 continues to affect every part of our day-to-day lives. And while dentists have reopened for business in every state across America, you may be wondering if it’s safe to see the dentist during the COVID-19 pandemic. The answer is “yes!” Read on, and see how Dr. James Martin and the team at Life Dentistry are protecting you and your family.
Patient Check-Ins & Social Distancing At Our Office
We are providing all patients with a CDC-recommended questionnaire before their appointment and at check-in. You’ll need to answer some questions about potential symptoms of COVID-19 that you may have experienced, exposure to those who may have been infected, and recent travel.
In addition, we ask that you wear a face covering and come alone to your appointment, unless you require assistance getting into and out of our office, or are supervising minors. We have reconfigured our waiting area to provide six feet of distance between patients, and have removed things like magazines and pamphlets to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 and other infectious pathogens.
Proper Handwashing, Respiratory, And Cough Etiquette
We have always followed proper handwashing recommendations including washing hands before and after seeing a patient, before and after wearing gloves, and after touching any potentially-contaminated surface.
Our team members are also following proper respiratory and cough etiquette recommendations, including coughing/sneezing into the elbow, disposing of used tissues properly, and washing hands after contacting any respiratory secretions.
Enhanced PPE For All Dental Team Members
In addition to PPE like glasses and masks, we are also wearing face shields, gowns, and head and shoe covering during certain dental procedures, ensuring that we minimize the potential spread of aerosolized particles that may carry COVID-19.
Comprehensive Operatory Cleaning Between Patients
Our office has always followed all requirements for cleaning, sanitizing, and sterilizing operatories between patients. But now, we are cleaning our operatories even more rigorously, and taking further steps like leaving used PPE in the operatory before it’s reprocessed or disposed of. This minimizes the risk of cross-contamination.
Regular Disinfection Of Common Surface Throughout Our Office
In addition to proper cleaning of patient operatories, our team is also frequently cleaning and disinfecting commonly-touched surfaces in the office using EPA-registered disinfectant. From countertops and tables to chairs, doorknobs, bathrooms and more, we’re doing everything we can to maintain a clean, sanitized, and safe environment for our patients and team members alike.
