Having anxiety about the dentist is more common than most people realize. In fact, 6 out of 10 people have anxiety about going to the dentist. Our office aims to help reduce that anxiety by creating an environment where patients would feel more comfortable than in a normal dentist’s office.
Beyond all the steps we take to make people feel comfortable, first and foremost, we make sure that all of their questions are answered. We believe that our patients deserve to understand their options as much as we deserve to understand our patients’ needs.
Here are all of the ways we help you have a better experience at the dentist, even if you hate the dentist’s office.
No-Touch X-Rays
Our X-rays are over before you realize they’ve started, and you don’t have to put those annoying bite squares in your mouth. We simply have you stand in place while our state-of-the-art 3D X-ray machine gently rotates around you to get the scans of your teeth. The entire process takes only a few seconds.
These are incredibly accurate, on top of being comfortable for our patients. Our X-rays are even complimentary, so you can get the care and diagnosis you need without limiting imaging due to budget constraints.
Feel Relaxed with Sedation
We offer free and safe sedation options to all of our patients with dental anxiety or treatment fears. Our office offers both nitrous oxide (also called laughing gas) and an oral sedative.
Is Sedation Safe?
Sedation dentistry is very safe. Dr. Martin and his team will carefully review your medical history with you to determine which option is best for your particular case. All sedation patients are monitored during their appointment.
What Can Sedation Be Used For?
Anything and everything! Sedation can even help you through a regular cleaning and exam.
Spa-Like Treats & Perks
We have ice cream, your favorite Netflix shows, cozy blankets, and infused neck pillows. We want this trip to the dentist to feel like a mini-vacation!
Phone a Friend
Bringing a friend or loved one with you to your appointment can be a great calming tactic, and we love to meet your friends! You can bring someone that you trust—who isn’t afraid of the dentist—to sit with you during your exam to help you feel more comfortable. Plus, that person can speak up for you when you can’t, so your needs are met and you have more control over your comfort in the office.
Our Office Philosophy
This is what differentiates us from typical general dentists, and it’s the major determining factor in what you’ll experience at our practice.
At James Martin, DMD, our team’s passion is helping people with complex dental needs. Most of the people we treat have moderate to severe anxiety when it comes to the dentist, but they are still seeking a healthy smile that gives them more confidence.
As a single-location, single-dentist practice, we’ve identified our treatment philosophy as one that values every individual’s unique needs. At our office, this means that at no time is the comfort or concern of our patients not considered.
What Happens if I Haven’t Been to the Dentist in Years?
The last thing we’re going to do is give you a hard time about it! Our focus is on the future, and not your past. Dr. Martin will collaborate with you to help you make up for the lost time and get your smile back on track.
We Help You Avoid Referrals
Dr. Martin and his team are trained to perform nearly all dental procedures, including dental implants, treatment of periodontal disease, orthodontics, all levels of cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, full mouth rehabilitation, and family dentistry.
